In Romania, each year, 1.100 persons die of tuberculosis and another are diagnosed, most of them among the young and active population.
Romania has the highest tuberculosis incidence in the European Union (5 times higher than the EU average), providing about 20% of the TB cases reported in the EU, considering that it has only 4% of the European Union population.
