The project entitled “The improvement of the health of the Romanian population through enhanced tuberculosis control” is financed through the Norwegian Financial Mechanism 2009 – 2014.
The Norwegian Financial Mechanism (Norway Grants) and the Grants for the European Economic Agreement (EEA Grants) represent the contributions of Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway to the reduction of the economic and social gaps and to the strengthening of the bilateral relations with 16 EU Member Countries from the Central and Southern Europe.
The Norway Grants and EEA Grants are programmed for periods of 5 years each.
The financing is provided through 150 programmes carried out in the 16 beneficiary countries. The allocations per country are done in accordance with the size of the population and the gross domestic product of each country, per capita.
At present, the financing areas are: environment and sustainable development, health, education, development of the civil society, research and schooling, justice and social dialogue.
The grants are intended for non-governmental organisations, research and academic institutions, public or private sector bodies. The projects financed under the programmes carried out at present may be implemented until 2016.
In the period 2009 – 2014, the Norwegian Financing Mechanism supports 61 programmes in 13 countries in Europe. The Norway Grants are available for 13 EU Member Countries that joined the EU in 2004, 2007 and 2013.
In Romania, the Ministry of European Funds is the National Contact Point for the EEA Grants and the Norway Grants 2009-2014
The Ministry of Health is the operator of the programme Ro 19 – Public Health Initiatives, financed through the Norwegian Financial Mechanism 2009 – 2014, under which the project entitled “The improvement of the health of the Romanian population through enhanced tuberculosis control” takes place.
